Virginia Pérez-Ratton, our beloved friend and colleague, died on October 6, 2010. We mourn the passing of one of the leading figures in Latin American culture. With her tireless efforts and infectious enthusiasm, Virginia Pérez-Ratton helped to shape the art scene of a region and project it beyond Central America to all of the earth’s continents.
TEOR/ética, the arts and culture platform she founded in San José, Costa Rica, not only did credit to its name but managed within a few years to become a well-respected institution in the international art world.
The cultural world has lost a great champion and one of its true cosmopolites. We will honour Virginia’s memory and hope that we may in future continue to reap the fruit of her life’s work.
