Sixty carefully selected galleries will set the pace for the modern and contemporary Latin American art market in New York, during the celebration of PINTA. This annual Latin American art fair is slated for November 19th to 22nd, 2009 at the Metropolitan Pavilion y B. Altman Building, in Chelsea, New York.
| ENHANCING MUSEUMS COLLECTIONS  The established PINTA Museum Acquisitions Program, created to incentivize the art market and enhance museum collections, guarantees funds to selected museums for the acquisition of works at PINTA. "The program has driven several institutions to add important Latin American artwork to their collections, including works, by Joaquín Torres García, Antonio Manuel, Alexander Arrechea, Arthur Luiz Piza, Fernando Bryce, Gego, Liliana Porter and Elías Crespín," states Mauro Herlitzka, PINTA'S Institutional Director. The newly invited institutions include: Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), Museum of Fine Arts and Harvard Art Museum (Boston), Tate Modern Art Gallery (London), El Museo del Barrio (New York), Pinacoteca do Estado Museu de São Paulo de Arte Contemporânea (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo (Mexico D.F.). Also, the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art (Austin, Texas), Museo de Arte Latinoamericano (Buenos Aires) and Museo de Arte de Lima (Peru) are expected to be at PINTA. "The fair will feature excellent artistic proposals in its 2009 edition, as it will include new international galleries," said Diego Costa Peuser, director of PINTA. "This will allow us to maintain and enhance the quality. Collectors and public may have the chance to continue discovering Latin American artists. That is our main objective."
