Actions. Art, Culture, Generation”, one of the parallel Events to Manifesta 7, will take place from July 10 to September 21, 2008. The project has been created and curated by Giorgia Lucchi and Marco Tomasini, supported by Assessorato alla Cultura of Provincia Autonoma di Trento; realized by Galleria Arte Boccanera Contemporanea, in collaboration with Mafalda – Associazione Donne Trento and with Trentino Trasporti. It is an exhibition presenting site-specific works and located in three different places: in Trento – at Galleria Arte Boccanera Contemporanea -, in Villazzano – at Ente CRA’s park – and in Pergine Valsugana – at new Centro Intermodale. Here we will present works that develop themselves through different artistic disciplines: painting, sculpture, photography, film and installations. The works are realized by ten artists: Lien Botha, Tatiana Festi, Annamaria Gelmi, Kaoru Katayama, Lucìa Madriz, Elena Monzo, Maria Lucrezia Schiavarelli, Cinthya Soto, Chiara Tagliazucchi, Ueia Lolta. The fulcrum of the project consists in a lively generational and intercultural comparison between Italian and foreign women. These artists highlight the role of Trento and Trentino-respectively, a city and a region-as a border land and site of cultural exchanges. Actions is a prestigious exhibition thanks to the contribution of top level artists and it is unique for the way it is presented to the public. In fact it will be possible to visit the three exhibition sites by Trentino Trasporti trains along the Valsugana railway. Actions wants to continue a journey started on a train that has been rented on the occasion of the public presentation of Manifesta 7, transporting, between Trento and Bolzano, people involved at different levels in contemporary art (journalists, politicians, art-operators). For the first time Manifesta will be located in a region instead of an urban context. The artists will be involved in these cultural, generational, multidisciplinar comparisons, taking part under the banner of their creativity to a vital and stimulating research, developing artistic contents in the context of the city of Trento and Trentino’s Region. It will deal with site-specific projects which have been created by the artists through the exploration of the entire territory of Trentino, of its organizational structures picking out its diverse geographic, cultural, linguistic and political peculiarities. Finally, the exhibition sites were not chosen accidentally. In Trento, Galleria Arte Boccanera Contemporanea will present pictorical works (Festi, Monzo, Tagliazucchi); in Villazzano, at the stimulating CRA’s park there will be sculptures and installations (Gelmi, Madriz, Schiavarelli and Ueia Lolta);in Pergine Valsugana, spread along the city center and at the conference room of the Centro Intermodale, there will be photographical works, video and video-installations (Botha, Katayama, Soto).
